LIFE's arrangement.

Met a friend while out last week. I asked her about the person she was with. It was GOOD news.
She asked about me. I told her I'm not expecting anything. If something really should happen, it would have happened last year.

Perhaps this is LIFE's arrangement. To give you surprises and disappointments when you least expect them.

Resigned to it or not?

Finally got some exercise!

After 2 weeks of absence from hall, I'm finally back in hall. This time to get involved in IHG/IHRG. Oh it's nothing great. Just to make up the numbers for sports/rec games that lack players. Haha. But I'm playing Boggle willingly! hehe.

So I reached hall this morning at 9.15 and then headed down to support the netball girls at about 10am. Thereafter, went for hockey training. OMG! The hockey pitch is so freaking big! Almost the size of a standard football field! We were only training on 1/3 of the pitch and I was panting and perspiring like nobody's business. But it's a good session.. Good to sweat it out and get myself "exercised"!

So it was lunch after hockey and then headed to Hall 8 to be the umpire for Othello. Hall 1 is the convening hall and as always, will never be able to get enough umpires. I was umpire for 4 games. Initially I found it fun.. But after all the sweating out from hockey, I couldn't take it when I was on the 3rd game. Really felt like dozing off. Worse still, I always get the table where the players take so long to finish a game when others have already finished theirs. Grr.. So for the 4th game, I asked Lawrence (Rec Sec) which halls are the better ones so I can end the game earlier. True enough.. My last game for the day ended very quickly. Hall 15 thrashed Hall 11. Heard that hall 9 is good too.

After othello, I went to kpo on the volleyball training with shi ling and kin hou. Got pulled to train with them after 1 team trained with hall 8 players. Volleyball is quite fun but just that most of the time we couldn't get the ball going. It kept getting "uncaught"..

ok that's all the update for today. Heading out now with sammy, shi ling and zi kai now.. don't know where they wanna go too. So bored in hall so might as well go out.. hiak hiak hiak..

the end of the long weekend..

The long weekend has ended (it's Hari Raya Haji today). Which means that I will get to see YH only on this coming Saturday. =( It feels really empty whenever she goes home after spending the weekend here. She's such a lovable darling! Makes me look forward to the weekend every week!

Here's what she did this weekend (6/12/08-8/12/08):
  1. She got me disfigured last night by digging one of her fingernails into my face and scratched me! Ouch! It was pain but it was most painful when I went to shower before bed. Imagine your flesh being exposed and you run water over it. Yes, it's that kind of pain. I guess my skin was still under her fingernail until I trimmed it for her this afternoon while she was asleep. I'm her 2nd victim, the 1st was her Daddy.
  2. She knows how to cough pretentiously. I wonder wat was she trying to bring across to us.
  3. She knows how to kiss our cheeks! Not sure if she really knows it or not though. She kisses with her mouth opened and then peck our cheeks. She doesn't pout her lips like we would when we kiss. haha. Sis says she's also smelling us as she kisses us. haha! Just like a little puppy! =)
  4. She looks out of her playpen in the study room in a stomach-down position to look for people when she wakes up from her nap. So cute! She quietly stares out of the room hoping to catch someone's attention when they walk past the study room. Hehe.
  5. She likes to roll around on Zu He's cold and silky mattress when we were there for dinner just now. She probably enjoyed it cos of the awesome cooling weather and she has had sufficient nap.
  6. She didn't like 三叔 to carry her cos he "scolded" her for making noises. haha! But it's heartening to see that she prefers US (the YCK people). Yay!
  7. She seems to like avocado! She opens her mouth BIGGER when she's fed with avocado as compared to when she was fed with porridge. But I think she prefers cereal best cos she opens her mouth BIGGEST when she's fed with that. haha.

Ok guess that's about all for this weekend. =)

I can't wait for Saturday to come! Oh no.. but she's going to her daddy's friend's party on Sunday.. meaning less time to spend with her.. =( Nevermind! Quality over quantity!

All's over!

oh yes! Interviews are over. I can finally enjoy my holidays proper! =)
Oh but I still have to wait to see if 1 of them will offer me or not.

Had an interview today and later met up with the gang for some shopping and dinner. I'm happy with what I bought today! I bought 2 pairs of havaianas (1 each for sis and i) and a pair of FOX baby leggings for YH! My Christmas present to Sis and YH! =) Though I got a shock when i heard the guy told me how much I had to pay, I believe I'm paying for quality and I REALLY hardly splurge. So this comforted me. Sis has been saying she wants to get a pair of FOX baby leggings for YH so I thought why not I get it for her since I've not bought her anything yet. Shall let sis decide if she wants to dress YH in the leggings or the hello kitty suit for Wei Ping's wedding. Oh well, if sis doesn't like the design I chose for YH, she's free to change it. ARGH! I just checked the receipt for FOX and it has a stamp that says "NO REFUND, NO EXCHANGE". Damn it! But at the bottom of the receipt it says "GOODS EXCHANGEABLE WITHIN 7 DAYS WITH RECEIPT". so which do I look at?

Mama will be discharged from AMK Comm. hospital tmr. And I've got dental appointment too.. Deciding if I should meet the gang again for shopping tmr afternoon. little monster is coming back tmr too. another busy weekend.. miss curly's coming too! hehe. Can't wait!

Growing Up..

This is an entry to document down the growth of the elder of the 2 little babies in the family. =)
Ong Yu Han, 王宇涵 @ 7mths:
This is what she can/has been doing:

  1. she knows the command "beat beat" or "打打" is to hit her hands on whatever her hands are near. Especially when she's bathing, she will hit the water and get us all wet.

  2. she will refuse to drink her milk nor sleep when there are many people around her. When she's sleepy, she'll just keep rubbing her eyes but would not make any noise. So we have to bring her to another place where there's just you and her. Only this way can u make her sleep.

  3. she is quite easy to coax to sleep. Just have to close your eyes and pretend that you're sleeping too and she will toss here and there on her own and eventually fall asleep when she sees that you're sleeping as well. I noticed a pattern in this. Whenever she's playing her hands while using this trick, it means that she's going to fall asleep soon. Sis says perhaps she has nothing else to play so she plays with her hands. You will see her slowly putting down her hands and concuss. haha very cute!

  4. she made growling sounds like that of a tiger at 7 months and her grandma asked her parents what did they teach her over the weekend when she wasn't under her care. It was quite hilarious.

  5. she can roll her lips into the shape of tweety bird's mouth. so cute! We adults can't even do that. should video it down one day!

  6. she has been sticking her tongue out to lick her mouth recently like as though she just ate something delicious. maybe she can pose for a food commercial!

  7. she remained still in her swimming pool after 2 weeks of not swimming. 陌生导致的。But she warmed up after a while and was happily kicking away.

  8. she has learnt how to blow just last weekend (28 Nov 08) and it's so funny to see her blowing when you're not doing it at all. I was her teacher for this motor skill lesson. haha.

  9. she's starting to "choose" people already. She was able to be carried by anyone but less so nowadays. She gets exceptionally 陌生 when she sees people she hardly interacts with when she has just woken up. Luckily she's been okie with us.

  10. she makes a mess whenever it's porridge/cereal/biscuit time for her. Lots of tissue are wasted per meal.

  11. her laughter was back on 27 Nov 08 after about 2 months of not hearing her chuckle so much. I played with her in the play pen and was so satisfied when I heard her chuckle again! =)

  12. it is very difficult to dress her after her bath or to change her diaper cos she can never lie still on the mattress. Every dressing/changing is like a battling a war. the only thing that can make her lie down properly is the 如意油. Jingle it and let her reach for it.

  13. she is able to play on her own in the play pen and then fall asleep if she's really tired and when she sees nobody around her.

  14. she has to be coaxed to sleep in an upright position now. she refuses to be coaxed in a cuddling(horizontal) position anymore.

  15. she has started to use the potty at my place (her maternal side) and sis and I never fail to laugh till we run out of breath every time she uses it. she kept wanting to move the potty with her feet and look at the little lamb logo. Maybe she thinks it is the walker at her paternal grandparents' place which she has been moving around in.

  16. she gave a particular facial expression when she was given avocado mixed with breast milk when she was 6months old. We concluded that perhaps she didn't like avocado which happens to be mine and sis' favourite. To make her like it, we've been feeding her that every weekend. haha.

  17. she frowns at dad when she was a mere 2 months old. her mouth will arch and she looked really pitiful. she looked as though she wants to cry but didn't dare to.
The list goes on.. I shall update again another time. Enjoy some snapshots of her!

the EXAM monster

It's the examinations period again. gosh. I don't know what I have been doing the whole semester to arrive at the exams so quickly.

Let's recap what I have been doing..provided that I can recall most of it.

Hall FOC was from late july to early august. Yes.. then I changed my hp (no link). School started and I was having 3days week all along. It was less hectic compared to previous years 'cos the presentations and projects don't come all at the same time and I only have 2 core modules and 2 electives compared to average of 4 core modules and 1 elective in the 1st 2 years. But having said that, it doesn't mean I was having a much easier time. Final Year modules are killers with all the hedging, consolidation, equity accounting, substantive audit procedures, strategic and process risks.. Luckily I cleared my presentations relatively early to grant me more time to revise. But as the nature of human beings, you won't appreciate the extra time given until you're really desperate for time when the exams are nearing. I could still watch 溏心风暴2 之家好月圆 in the last week of school. It's a very very nice drama but I still prefer the 1st season. The 2nd season has some very touching scenes. Got to watch it alone or people will know you're tearing. haha. So I just had my 1st paper this morning - auditing. goodness, it was nothing like past years' papers. I used common sense for most parts of the paper and i'm worrying will they mark me down for not using textbook knowledge. I know I won't do well for this paper but I'm glad that it's over. :)

It's Yong Jie's full month celebration this Sunday! Though the actual day ought to be 18 Nov cos he was borned on 18 Oct. duhhh? Another day gone for revision. ok shall get down to business.

It's TCM, AA306 and malay to go!.. exams end on the 19th! =)

wish me lotsa luck!!

the journey to the ONE..

It just got me thinking..

Why do some people take a longer time to meet their soul mates than others? It has got me thinking harder about it recently 'cos something happened which I don't know whether to feel happy for myself or sad for the other party.

Is it heaven's way of bringing people together that's why some people just take a longer time to reach their partners? Some people get together after going 1 big round after some time or even years. Just like my elder brother and his wife. They were secondary school classmates and got together just 3 years ago after being in the working world for half a decade.. But if that is heaven's way of bringing people together, I would rather go along with it than it not happening at all. If it is life's way of making you appreciate the other party even more, not taking him/her for granted, I will.

Waiting is painful.. It'll be a bonus if it happens.

A Fairy Tale

The prince has arrived last Saturday. The BRIDGE granny has been around from Day 1. Trying to show that we can't host the prince well enough? Don't try to dominate. It's never too good to overpower. There's a servant to take care of the prince, why should you worry? To give you the benefit of doubt, I may not understand the shoes of a granny and I'm trying to continue giving you this benefit of doubt. But please.. The message you're sending across to the Royal Family is that we're not worthy of being a good host. But the King and Queen doesn't seem to mind. So what more can I say?

Blame it on the traditions for my mindset and behaviour. I don't care.

For now, attention will be on the princess instead, whether you like it or not.

Can you believe it? I can't..

Can you believe it?

I actually went for Hall Productions' auditions for ensemble and they miraculously accepted me! I guess they didn't want to embarrass me so they lowered their standards and took in this lousy, tone deaf and out-of-tune little girl here. It all began over dinner as Ming Hui started to psycho me to join ensemble. His excuse was that as a final year student, I should graduate with a BANG and join Hall Prod ensemble. Oh well.. I did thought of joining ensemble this year after watching last year's Hall Prod. It seemed so fun to be part of the cast. But I hesitated, fearing that I won't be able to manage my time well. Let's see how things will turn out to be next semester as the practices and rehearsals commence. =)

Next week is recess week! Oh man.. though there isn't much things going on, I still gotta MUG hard and catch up with all 7 weeks' worth of work and prepare for AA304 presentation when school reopens. ArgHhhhh!

Cheryl will be flying off to Scotland tomorrow and the whole gang will be going to see her off. It'll be a dinner date for all of us at the airport.

Let's see what I can do for 304 presentation now..

tatA!

The Final Year Syndrome

As the title suggests, the final year syndrome has taken the better of me. So what exactly does this new syndrome in the medical world means?

It just means that someone who is in his/her final year of studies just wants to take a step back from all affairs and live in his/her own world. Of course, not all final year students experience this special type of syndrome. But I must say about 80% of the people do. I wonder if that makes me a hermit crab?

I simply love to coop myself up in my room and enjoy the peace within me.

Anybody wanna join me? =)

Meaning?

Just what was that suppose to mean?

I am dumb.

Just tell me straight.

Please?

Reading deficiency?

School has reopened but my mind has not. It's just so difficult to read the textbook with nothing going into that head of mine. I guess I have reading deficiency. Can someone please re-wire my mind?

Angry that I can't glue myself to the TV watching the Olympics. Lamenting the fact that the TV card is incompatible with Vista. Just when I needed it most, it can't be used.

Little YH can now flip herself from tummy position to back position. She just did it on Sunday, 10 Aug. =) She's way too adorable. Now that we only get to see her during the weekends, it really makes me look forward to going home.

Till then..

An Eventful Time

It's been almost a month since the last update. But then was just thinking that nobody reads anyway so i'm lazy to update. =P

Oh well.. Chai Yan just got promoted to PARTNER! So cool!! I'm so inspired to slog my life out at one of the Big 4 and reach the Partner level. But it's so so hard.. The rec club ppl organised a mini celebration for her yesterday in office. They bought a cake from awfully chocolate and some flowers for her. Heard from pei shan that Chai Yan wept! She's really touched. Also heard that the wordings on the chocolate tag goes like this: "congratulations mum! from 018 kids". Fung Fung was there too and she said she herself is a grandma now. Haha. Really cute and sweet. To think I missed all these while at client's place. Boo hoo..

Little Yu Han is growing really well and fast. She has started to go goo goo gaa gaa at a mere 2months! She's really well ahead of others her age! She stared at dad for a long long time on 2 occasions while he carried her trying to rock her to sleep. Her mouth went into an arch like about to burst out crying and she doesn't even blink. Not sure if she's trying to "sa jiao" or she feels strange when dad carries her. haha but i think it's the former cos dad always manage to rock her to sleep. She probably feels safe in his arms. =) KM and her should be coming to stay for the night tmr cos BIL is going to play soccer on sunday morning. She played the eye-brow game with me too and made KM and I burst out laughing.

Just had a few 21st bday parties during the past 1 month. Had Jie Ying's, Hui Fang's, Shi Ling's, Adelyne's. All have stepped into the 21st threshold. Next would be the wedding phase i guess? Can't wait to see who will be the 1st to get married.

PA is coming to an end next Friday. Woo hoo! got to start churning out the PA report.. then it's hall camp.. then it's JCRC elections.. then it's AGM.. then it's Ah Boy coming into this world in early October!

What an eventful year. =))

Here's Ker Shin reporting from client's place..hehe. took the chance to update when seniors are discussing work.

Till then..

Anthony's Commissioning.

Yesterday was Anthony's Commissioning!

Time passes really fast. I still remember us going to ice-cube in April last year when he was still in BMT and now after 39 weeks of OCS training, he's finally commissioned! So proud to have an officer friend! Really happy for him. His parents must be so proud of their eldest son too. I definitely will be if it was my son!. lol.

So Para, Eddy, Jeremy and I went to his commissioning parade at SAFTI yesterday and gosh was I happy to see a smartly dressed Anthony in his No. 1 uniform. Finally a yuying pal gets commmissioned.. *overwhelmed with joy* It was Bernard's commissioning too. So there are 2 yuying pals getting commissioned together. =)

The last time I attended a commissioning parade was my big brother's and that was way back into time.. 11 years ago! I was only 10 then. And guess what? after watching his parade, I suddenly had the urge to join the army when I grow older. Simply because the guys all look so smart!

Waiting for the parade to start..
oh we saw meihua and daryll there too!
presenting to you our new officer!
haha fooling around with his hat. look cool on me huh?
the whole lot of us!

don't worry. it's alive!

alright.. para said my blog has been dormant since god knows when.

so it's time I get it alive again..

I finally donated blood after 2 years of attempts! Got rejected a few times previously for low blood pressure but this isn't my 1st donation. Feels so good to be eligible for donation once again. Haha! Surprising that it wasn't that painful this time round. Perhaps like what Yuwen said, I didn't focus on the pain.

Let's recap my blood donation journey..
The 1st time i attempted it was back in JC and I got rejected as I only weighed 44.5kg then (mind you the minimum weight one should be is 45kg). I was thinking "I'm only 0.5kg short why can't you let me pass?".
I think I passed the 2nd and 3rd times. But couldn't pass the subsequent few attempts. Once was the whole group of TCCs went to the blood bank after work one day. oh well..I was the "initiator" of that particular blood donation exercise. I remember it was Nuraini's 1st time at giving blood. But who knows, I was the one who couldn't donate (what other reasons are there besides low BP again?) and they got so "mad" at me.hahah.

Ok so it's back to school already. Argh..the one thing I dread most especially having so much fun at Chiang Mai and Xiamen. My 1st time going on holiday and return 1 day before school starts. Tiring! Though trip to Xiamen was really short, it was really intense and fun-filled. My 1st time seeing seeing strawberries at strawberry farm! The 1st time was at Gold Coast but it wasn't the season yet so I only saw the plant then..

So much schoolwork to do now and there's still the pineapple production at home. oh man! I should hide in hall until CNY to escape it! But it's soooo NO LIFE!

Ok shall get down to some work.

Quote of the week: don't save moira, save the earth!
